Live Load Testing
Selection & enquiry guidance

Planning a live load test

Live load testing applies a controlled load to an item or structure under an agreed test arrangement. For vertical live load tests, test weights can be used to apply the required load. The test method, load level, duration, access and acceptance criteria should be agreed before the work is carried out.

Test requirement

Provide the item or structure being tested, the required test load and any specified procedure or acceptance criteria.

Access and setup

Send drawings, photographs and site information showing how the load can be applied and how the test area can be controlled.

Records and timing

Confirm the date required and what test records, certification or project documentation are expected.

Common questions

Live load testing enquiries

What information does Durham Lifting need for a live load test enquiry?

Send the item or structure to be tested, required test load, location, drawings or photographs and any specified test procedure or acceptance criteria.

Is live load testing the same as every proof load test?

Not necessarily. The required test method depends on the item, project requirement and agreed procedure. Durham Lifting can review the requirement and discuss the appropriate testing approach.

Need help specifying the requirement?

Send the application details you have and the Durham Lifting team can review what is needed for a quotation.
